Sayef Azad Sakin

Postdoctoral Researcher

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher, advised by Dr. James Ahrens, in National Security Education Center at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. My current research is focused on Data Visualization, High Performance Computing, Parallel Computing, and Data Management.

I received my Ph.D. in Computing at the University of Utah in the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute. My Ph.D. advisor is Professor Dr. Kate Isaacs. With Dr. Isaacs, I worked in the Traveler Project, an integrated graph visualization system for asynchronous multi-task execution. I developed and optimized data management techniques for visualizing large number of event sequence data, primarily for analyzing parallel programs.

I was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2013, I finished my undergraduate in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka. I earned my MS in the same subject from the same university in 2016. During my MS study, I worked with Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque in his Green Networking Research (GNR) Lab on resource sharing problem of co-located cognitive radio networks. At the end of my MS research, I developed a dedicated NS3 (network simulator 3) module for wireless regional area network to simulate and test our solution methodology. After working in the industry - as a software engineer - for more than two years, I enrolled into the Ph.D. program at the University of Arizona and later transferred to the University of Utah where I completed my Ph.D. in Computing.
